The Todos Santos 15th Annual Art Festival begins tomorrow, February4th. New this year is a parade of performers on Sunday, February 5, beginning at 12 noon at the south entrance to town and ending at the public plaza in the center of Todos Santos.
The 5k Walk/Run had been rescheduled for March 24, 2012 but now has been cancelled for this year. Hopefully it will return in 2013.
After Kev’n Kinney and before the Minus 5 set, Peter Buck took the stage along with other notables including Chloe Johnson (Festival Organizer), Alejandro Blanco (Hotel California), Erick Ochoa (Palapa Society), Todos Santos mayor “Papule”, Oscar Rosales, the Pacifico/Corona girls and a Baja Sur tourism official whose name I don’t recall. Peter spoke to the audience in Spanish about the festival, the Palapa Society and the money being raised. He then symbolically signed the $10,000 USD check that represented his personal monetary contribution to the Palapa Society.

Another big surprise for me personally was the music of Kev’n Kinney. Man can he rock! He plays a southern style of rock, heavily influenced by the Allman Brothers. He told me he was from Michigan but spent 20 years rockin’ in the Atlanta area. Could have fooled me – he is very good and gets a crowd roaring and dancing effortlessly.

Chuch Prophet was one of the pleasant surprises for me. I had never heard his music and the loss was mine. He can play sweet acoustic ballads or ramp it up and jam rock with the best of them. Don’t miss a chance to see him live!
